Top Imo State Politician Sen Athanasious Nneji Achonu , is a former  senator who represented Imo North. Athanasius Nneji  was declared winner of Imo North Senatorial District poll held on April 28, last year.The election was set aside by the Court of Appeal, which sat in Owerri, the Imo State capital, in the judgment of December 11, last year on the ground that INEC failed to include the logo of Accord Party on the ballot papers.The appellate court order INEC to conduct a fresh election within 90 days from the date of its judgment. The re-run election scheduled for February 20, 2016 was aborted when hoodlums invaded INEC office in Owerri on February 19th.The election is still yet to be held.Although Sen Athanasius is handicapped as his right hand has been amputated,he is still a very strong politician in Imo State.He was recently a guest on the popular programme Fireworks on Tvc.
