When popular Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade's Ekehinde who Is married to Lagos pilot Capt. Matthew Ekehinde took to her instagram account few weeks back to blast Lagos State government over tax, little did she envisage the heavy loss she was bound to insure few weeks after her outbursts we gathered that the multi million naira event center which the actress erected called Double Doors
located at Mobolanji Anthony area of Ireland has been completely destroyed and the big permanent Marque tent torn to shreds. According to people around the area, they revealed that they arrived on a certain morning and met the new event centre in shambles although nobody knows how it was destroyed. Some food peddlers around the area revealed it may have been a result of a heavy rain but however.,the beautiful signpost that has the name of the event centre was marked with a red paint by LASAA (Lagos State Signage and Advertising Agency) with instructions that read"Remove This Sign "
Recall the actress started a campaign against the excesses of Lagos State Govt over tax, on her instagram tagged Don't Push Me. According to Omotola, she revealed “One of The biggest fraud in Nigeria is the PHCN.In Ikeja, there's no meter, No LIGHT EVER and they still bring bills! high bills!” With the hash tag, ‘# don’t push me’
The actress got angry with the present administration of Governor Ambode, who has been asking for various taxes and persecuting people for the services his state has not offered.
“This Lagos Govt. talking about Taxes! and persecuting people and what rubbish? Are you kidding me? I payed my taxes to buying my own security, Generators, fuel, road and many more, are you going to refund me? insensitivity?
“Many companies I.e Dunlop have left Nigeria because of your Ridiculous Taxes/lack of AMMENITIES. Still want to further burden citizens. If they don't retrace their steps! and quickly too, I've been quiet for a minute, I hope they don’t push me,” she said.
Speaking further, “the Nigerian youth, moment you begin to think more about your country than party shenanigans and manipulations better for you. In developed countries you're boldly asked for taxes because you're well taken care of Education, health, Good roads, electricity. In Africa, Govts use Developed country's laws but lack the intelligence and Will to provide same services for their citizens.
“Never campaigned for/with any party. I am just a Nigerian who wants to live my life in a conducive environment n Not be oppressed. I'm a Nigerian! Not your political party.” However, her event centre got destroyed probably by rain as it is being alleged, few weeks after her outburst and the actress has decided to keep mum over this recent development. The new event is still in chambles till today as she hasn't done anything about it. It is definitely a huge loss for the actress as she revealed through her instagram that she put in a lot of sweat to set up the Double Door event centre.
